Osteomyologist / Osteopathy and Sport Therapist
With over 35 years of experience, I have an extensive range of tried and trusted techniques to treat various conditions from sciatica, sports injuries, arthritic neck and joint pains to lumbar disc prolapses. Alongside my own personal skills in manipulative therapy, I use a variety of therapeutic equipment, such as ultrasound, bio-laser and electro-differential therapy. All these adjuncts can be used to help quickly diminish acute as well as chronic pain, be it dysfunctional, degenerative or inflammatory, at a faster rate than obtained by standard methods. In most cases, adjuncts do make for a more effective use of manipulative therapy, than usually achieved by chiropractors, osteopaths and physiotherapists who often ignore such adjuncts. With my naturopathic training, I include nutritional advice, and sometimes simple homeopathic and aye Vedic remedies. These elements of my work make me “Holistic” (whole person) in my therapy.
Since 2001, I have been known as an Osteomyologist, and I am now focused on my registration with the General Council of Osteomyologists (G.C.O.). As an “Osteomyologist”, my osteopathy has become another technique system that can be mixed and blended with either orthopaedic or oriental techniques, chiropractic ones or physiotherapy exercises if so required, and in a manner that is fitting to the needs of the patient. All these techniques are taught in post-graduate courses organised by the Members of the Association of Osteomyologists (M.A.O.). The osteomyological insurance system allows for the safe integration of such techniques, adjuncts, exercises and holistic approaches. Like me, many osteomyologists originate from one of the above mentioned disciplines, and we are leading the way for the future in physical integrated medicine.
Though I have practised as an osteopath both privately and within the NHS, I have declined a request to apply for registration with the General Osteopathic Council and abandoned the title of osteopath. I prefer the title of Osteomyologist because M.A.O’s post-graduate courses in cross-professional education enables me to be a more accomplished practitioner. The Osteomyologists are unique to Britain with their Continual Program of Development (CPD).

What is Osteomyology?
Osteomyolgy means (Osteo-bone, Myo-muscle, Ology-study of)
A group of qualified health care professionals have formed a unique association whereby different alternative practitioners, have joined together with one ideal in mind – the interchanging of treatment and protocols to create a more holistic approach to their therapy.
Osteomyology replaces the dogma of rigidly trained health care professionals with an open-minded approach that allows the practitioner to move easily and confidently from one method of treatment to another depending on each individual patient’s needs. We believe that by combining different approaches we are staying true to our philosophy of holism because no one approach fits all.
If you’re suffering from any type of musculo-skeletal problem, the holistic approach of osteomyology could provide you with a solution.
An Osteomyologist
An Osteomyologist is a practitioner who is fully insured so that he or she can utilise a whole variety of structural manipulation techniques that originate from different disciplines. The Osteomyologist is encouraged to think and treat holistically, so that he or she can create in their own minds a broader picture of the conditions and needs of the patient; rather than just treat the symptoms. Osteomyologists tend to be an eclectic group, originating from various disciplines such us chiropractic, physiotherapy and osteopathy as I did; but not entirely so. In fact any one of a number of other manual medical modalities is welcome to become an Osteomyologist, but what all these people have in common is the personal aspiration and possible fusion of each other’s doctrines; in short, becoming more holistic as therapist. All these therapists do not necessarily treat in the same way, but the bond to understand and appreciate each other’s work is what holds us together.
